Head of Sports and After School

ROLE SUMMARY:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Head of Sports and After-School Coordinator will lead and inspire a dynamic extracurricular program that enriches student life and promotes active participation, well-being, and school spirit. The role includes designing and overseeing a broad range of high-quality sports, clubs, and enrichment activities, ensuring their smooth day-to-day delivery and alignment with the school’s values. The successful candidate will manage coaches, activity leaders, and external providers, organize fixtures, tournaments, and special events, and ensure that all programs meet safeguarding and health and safety standards. The role also involves overseeing resources, facilities, equipment, and budgets, while working closely with school leaders, staff, and families to continuously strengthen and expand the school’s sports and after-school provision.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

The successful candidate will hold a relevant degree in Sports Education, Physical Education, Sports Management, Education, or a related field, and will bring proven experience leading sports programs, after-school activities, or extracurricular provision within a school setting. They will have a strong understanding of student wellbeing, inclusion, and development through sports and enrichment, as well as the ability to lead and inspire coaches, instructors, and external providers. Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills are essential, along with experience coordinating events, fixtures, and student activities. The candidate must also demonstrate sound knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, and risk management, and be able to work collaboratively and effectively in a dynamic school environment.
