ROLE SUMMARY:
Knowledge Gate International School (KGIS) is a vibrant school offering a premium British-style education to both expatriate and local students in the Sultanate of Oman. KGIS is a community school with a strong and growing reputation thanks to its pedagogical approach, the opportunity for staff development, and outstanding examination results. The school is seeking a pioneering practitioner who is passionate about their subject and wishes to broaden their own experience within an innovative, friendly and collaborative environment.
Knowledge Gate International School (KGIS) is seeking to appoint an outstanding Head of Primary, to start in August 2025.
Applicants will be academically able, with a degree in the subject. They will also be enthusiastic and collegiate teachers. Involvement in the wider life of this successful and growing British school is expected.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Leadership – Develop and implement a vision, ethos, and strategic plan for the Primary School in alignment with the overall school mission.

Curriculum & Teaching – Oversee curriculum development, teaching quality, and assessment to ensure high standards of learning and achievement.

Staff Management – Lead, support, and evaluate staff performance, ensuring professional development opportunities and career progression.

School Operations – Manage the Primary School’s daily operations, including scheduling, administration, and ensuring efficient resource allocation.

Financial Oversight – Prepare and control the department budget, optimize resource utilization, and ensure financial accountability.

Student Development – Foster a positive learning environment, promote student well-being, and support personal, social, and moral development.

Parental & Community Engagement – Maintain strong communication with parents and external stakeholders to support student success and school initiatives.

School Events & Activities – Ensure effective planning and execution of school events, extracurricular activities, and calendar scheduling.

Safeguarding & Compliance – Ensure the safety and well-being of students, adhering to safeguarding policies and ministry regulations.

Accountability & Reporting – Monitor school performance, report progress to leadership, and implement improvements based on evaluations and feedback.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
We are looking for an outstanding, energetic, inspirational Head of Primary. Candidates must be team players and must be committed to achieving high levels of learning.
We are looking for reflective practitioners who have:
- Enhanced disclosure from the DBS or equivalent, and who are committed to the welfare of all children
- A degree and PGCE or B.Ed or the equivalent.
- Significant leadership experience in a primary school setting, preferably in an international or premium school.
- Experience delivering UK Primary Curriculum
- A proven track record of driving academic success and innovation in primary education.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with a collaborative approach to leadership.
- A passion for holistic education and a commitment to fostering the well-being of students and staff.
- Confidence in the use of ICT in teaching
- High expectations and aspirations for all students
- A commitment to the overall development of young people
- An open-minded approach to their work, are willing to learn and develop
- A demonstrable love for what they do and a proven track record
