ROLE SUMMARY:
Island Primary is an Inspired school rooted in the Cayman Islands, created with the ambition of providing exceptional educational opportunities that reflect the culture, community and unique environment of Cayman. Located at Buttonwood Park in George Town, the school offers education from Reception through Year 6, following a strong British curriculum adapted to provide meaningful and relevant learning experiences for its students.

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Human Resources Manager to join the Island Primary team. This is a hands-on role responsible for the effective day-to-day management of all people-related processes at the school, working closely with the school leadership team and the wider Inspired HR function.
The successful candidate will be an approachable and visible member of the school community. We are looking for someone who enjoys working closely with others, builds trusted relationships with employees and creates an environment where staff feel comfortable approaching HR for guidance and support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the day-to-day HR operations of the school, ensuring processes are organised, accurate and delivered efficiently.
- Maintain complete, accurate and confidential employee records, HR documentation and staff data.
- Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment administration, onboarding, contracts, employee changes and offboarding.
- Coordinate and support recruitment processes, working closely with hiring managers and the wider Inspired Talent team as required.
- Ensure HR practices comply with Cayman Islands labour, immigration and pension legislation and requirements.
- Provide practical guidance to school leadership on immigration matters, work permits and relevant local regulatory processes, identifying potential risks and ensuring the school remains compliant.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of Cayman Islands immigration procedures and effectively manage documentation and interactions with the relevant local authorities.
- Support payroll and benefits administration by ensuring employee information, changes and documentation are accurate and submitted on time.
- Support managers with employee relations and performance management matters, ensuring appropriate processes and documentation are followed.
- Assist with absence management, attendance records and other employee-related administration.
- Provide employees with clear guidance regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits and employment-related questions.
- Handle sensitive employee information and conversations with a high level of discretion, professionalism and confidentiality.
- Build strong, trusted relationships across the school and maintain a visible, friendly and approachable HR presence.
- Work collaboratively with school leadership, administrative colleagues and the wider Inspired HR team.
- Support the implementation of Inspired Education HR policies, processes and systems at school level.
- Ensure deadlines, compliance requirements and employee documentation are proactively monitored and followed through.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Previous experience in a Human Resources Manager, HR Generalist or similar hands-on HR role.
- Strong knowledge of Cayman Islands labour, immigration and pension legislation and processes.
- Practical experience working with Cayman Islands immigration requirements and a strong understanding of how to effectively navigate local immigration procedures and authorities.
- A strong understanding of the local employment environment and the judgement to identify potential immigration or compliance risks before they become issues.
- Experience managing employee onboarding and offboarding processes from end to end.
- Experience supporting managers with performance management and employee relations matters.
- Strong administrative skills and exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to manage significant volumes of employee information in a highly structured way.
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, with a strong track record of reliability, consistency and follow-through.
- High levels of discretion and sound judgement when handling confidential or sensitive information.
- A warm, friendly and approachable communication style, with the ability to build trust with employees at all levels.
- A collaborative and flexible mindset, comfortable working as part of a close-knit school administration team and being an active member of the wider school community.
- The ability to balance employee support with the needs, policies and compliance requirements of the organisation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with regional and global HR colleagues within Inspired Education.
