ROLE SUMMARY:
The Geneva English School (GES) is a high-quality, boutique international school in Switzerland, operating across two campuses (Genthod for Primary and Versoix for Secondary) with a total of approximately 330 students from over 60 nationalities.
The school follows the English National Curriculum, culminating in IGCSEs and A Levels, and maintains a "small school" feel with typical class sizes of 12, focusing on a holistic education where music is central to daily life.
The Music Teacher at Geneva English School is responsible for delivering high-quality music education that inspires a diverse, international student body. With music deeply embedded in the school culture—from "House singing" competitions to whole-school assemblies—you will nurture students' creative and technical skills. This role involves teaching core music lessons, potentially across both Primary (ages 3–11) and Secondary (ages 11–18) levels, depending on the specific part-time allocation
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging lessons following the English National Curriculum, adapting it for an international context.
- Secondary Academic Support: For older students, support the delivery of IGCSE and A Level Music, focusing on performance, composition, and perceptive analysis.
- Performance & Events: Organise and lead school concerts, talent shows, and seasonal musical events that showcase the talents of the GES community.
- Ensemble Leadership: Direct and grow co-curricular musical groups, such as the school choir, orchestra, or smaller ensembles, often held during lunchtimes or after school.
- Collaboration: Work alongside a team of Visiting Music Teachers (VMTs) who provide individual instrumental tuition to over 370 students weekly across the wider community.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Education: A degree in Music and a recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE or equivalent) is essential for classroom teaching roles.
- Experience: Proven success in teaching the British curriculum, with a strong ability to manage small, dynamic classes.
- Language: Fluency in English is the primary requirement; however, a working knowledge of French is a significant advantage given the school’s immersive French setting in Switzerland.
- Permit Status: Due to Swiss regulations, candidates typically need to be Swiss citizens, EU/EFTA passport holders, or hold a valid Swiss work permit.
SAFEGUARDING STATEMENT:
Inspired Education Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, volunteers and other third parties to share this commitment. Safer recruitment practices and pre-employment background checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed.
