ROLE SUMMARY:

Blue Valley School is seeking an experienced, student-centered, and academically strong Early Learning School (ELS) Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will work with young learners, creating a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.

The ELS Teacher will promote high levels of achievement, foster curiosity and conceptual understanding, and support students in developing confidence, independence, creativity, and early problem-solving skills. This role requires a caring educator who understands the needs of early childhood learners and is committed to supporting each child’s academic, social, and emotional growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creating Engaging Learning Experiences: Plan and deliver age-appropriate, engaging, and meaningful lessons that inspire curiosity, creativity, and active participation. Lessons should align with the school’s curriculum, policies, and early learning expectations while meeting the developmental needs of each child.
  • Supporting and Assessing Student Progress: Observe, assess, and document students’ learning and development regularly. Use this information to provide targeted support, adapt teaching strategies, and ensure each child is appropriately challenged and supported.
  • Building a Positive and Nurturing Learning Environment: Create a warm, safe, and inclusive classroom environment where young learners feel valued, confident, and encouraged to explore, ask questions, and take risks in their learning.
  • Differentiating Learning: Individualize and differentiate instruction to respond to each student’s abilities, interests, and learning needs, ensuring that every child is supported in making strong progress.
  • Collaborating and Sharing Best Practices: Work closely with colleagues as an active member of the early learning team, sharing ideas, collaborating on planning, and engaging in professional development to strengthen teaching practice.
  • Contributing to School Life: Participate actively in the wider life of the school, including school events, co-curricular activities, and whole-school initiatives that enrich the student experience.
  • Partnering with Parents: Maintain open, positive, and constructive communication with parents, building strong partnerships that support each child’s academic, social, and emotional development.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • A genuine passion for early childhood education, with the ability to engage, motivate, and positively impact young learners.
  • A strong understanding of child development, early learning practices, and age-appropriate teaching strategies that support each child’s academic, social, emotional, and personal growth.
  • A proven track record of excellence in personal, academic, and professional achievements.
  • Expertise in planning and delivering meaningful learning experiences that inspire curiosity, creativity, independence, and confidence in young children.
  • Experience assessing and documenting student progress, using observations, evidence of learning, and targeted feedback to support each child’s development and next steps.
  • Experience providing pastoral care and promoting student wellbeing, with a strong focus on individual attention, safeguarding, inclusion, and high standards of welfare.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, contribute positively to the Early Learning team, and build strong, trusting relationships with families.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development, reflective practice, and ongoing growth as an educator.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise, communicate effectively, meet deadlines, and work well in a busy school environment.
  • BA in Early Childhood Education, Education, Educational Licence, PGCE, QTS, or equivalent, with strong academic credentials and, ideally, evidence of further professional or post-graduate study.
  • Energy, enthusiasm, warmth, and flexibility, with a positive and resourceful approach to working in a dynamic early learning environment.
