ROLE SUMMARY:

The International School of Como, part of the Inspired Education Group, is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Primary Years Programme (PYP) Teacher to join its Primary School team with an immediate start.

 

This role is suitable for a flexible, student-centred educator who is passionate about inquiry-based learning and international education. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching within the IB Primary Years Programme and contribute positively to a collaborative, supportive school environment. The specific year group will be determined based on experience and school needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver engaging, inquiry-based teaching aligned with the IB PYP philosophy, standards, and practices.
  • Plan and implement units of inquiry collaboratively, ensuring meaningful learning experiences.
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports student wellbeing and engagement.
  • Use formative and summative assessment effectively to monitor progress and inform teaching.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including multilingual students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in planning, moderation, and professional dialogue.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and learning.
  • Participate fully in school life, including meetings, professional development, and school events.
  • Promote and model the IB Learner Profile and Inspired Education values.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Essential:

  • A recognised teaching qualification and degree in Primary Education or a related field.
  • Experience teaching in a primary setting, ideally within the IB PYP.
  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills.
  • A flexible, proactive approach and willingness to adapt to school needs.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Legal right to live and work in Italy (EU passport or valid work permit).

 

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching in an international or bilingual school environment.
  • Familiarity with inquiry-based, concept-driven learning.
  • Experience supporting multilingual learners (EAL).
  • IB PYP training (Category 1, 2, or 3).
