ROLE SUMMARY:
The International School of Como is seeking a committed and enthusiastic PYP Teacher to join the Primary School on a 1-year fixed-term contract (maternity cover) from August 2026.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences aligned with the IB PYP framework, supporting students’ academic, social and emotional development within a collaborative and student-centred environment.
This role is open to teachers across the PYP age range and is not specific to a single year group.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and deliver high-quality, inquiry-based lessons aligned with the IB PYP framework
- Create a positive, inclusive and engaging classroom environment
- Support students’ academic, social and emotional development
- Use assessment effectively to monitor progress and inform planning
- Contribute to collaborative planning and transdisciplinary units of inquiry
- Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all learners
- Maintain strong communication with parents and colleagues
- Participate in school events, trips and wider community initiatives
- Uphold safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
Essential
- A recognised teaching qualification
- Experience teaching within a Primary or Early Years setting
- A strong understanding of inquiry-based learning
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- A collaborative and reflective approach to teaching
- Legal right to live and work in Italy (EU passport or valid work permit)
Desirable
- Experience teaching within the IB PYP
- Experience in an international school environment
- Strong understanding of formative assessment practices
- Ability to contribute to wider school life and enrichment activities
- Italian language skills (advantageous but not essential)
