ROLE SUMMARY:

The International School of Como (ISC) is entering an exciting phase of growth under newly appointed Executive Principal Philipa Smithson. An expansion project will increase student numbers from 400 to 700, creating new career opportunities and enhancing campus facilities. Located in Fino Mornasco, 6km south of Lake Como, ISC’s purpose-built campus features modern science labs, a well-resourced library, studios for the arts, and dedicated early years spaces supporting our Reggio-Inspired Curriculum. Currently, ISC serves nearly 400 students from 45+ nationalities with a team of 70+ faculty and staff.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about mathematics education, committed to student success, and experienced in delivering the IB curriculum.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and challenging MYP Maths lessons that align with the IB philosophy.
• Use a variety of teaching strategies and resources to support diverse learning needs.
• Foster a supportive and stimulating classroom environment that promotes inquiry, collaboration, and independent thinking.
• Implement the IB MYP framework, including unit planning, assessments, and student progress tracking.
• Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their academic growth.
• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum development and align teaching practices across the department.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents and guardians.
• Stay updated with developments in mathematics education and IB curriculum changes, actively engaging in professional development opportunities.
• Contribute to the wider school community through participation in extracurricular activities and school events.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• A degree in Mathematics or a related field.
• A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
• Experience teaching mathematics at the secondary level, preferably within an IB MYP curriculum.
• Strong understanding of IB assessment criteria and curriculum requirements.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
• The ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
• A commitment to continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
• International school experience (preferred but not essential).
