ROLE SUMMARY:

ISC is seeking to appoint a dedicated, well-qualified, and inspiring Head of Department (maternity cover) Teacher of MYP and DP English.

The role involves leading a well resourced and experienced department as well as teaching IBDP English A Language and Literature course and the MYP 4-5 classes. Candidates should be qualified educators with significant experience in teaching English committed to high standards, and able to bring a creative, student-focused approach to the subject. Ideal candidates will be team players who lead by example, with a willingness to participate in departmental development and an understanding of the unique needs of students whose first language is not English.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL:

This is a particularly exciting time to join the International School of Como (ISC). Under the leadership of newly appointed Executive Principal Philipa Smithson, the school is embarking on an expansion project set to increase the student body from 400 to approximately 700 in the coming years, bringing additional career advancement opportunities.

In 2011, ISC moved to a purpose-built campus in Fino Mornasco, 6km south of Lake Como. Our spacious, modern campus was designed to encourage collaboration, equipped with state-of-the-art science labs, a well-resourced library, and studios for visual arts, drama, and music, along with sports facilities. The campus also features specially designed early years spaces that support our Reggio-Inspired Early Years Curriculum. The current expansion project will further enhance our campus facilities.

Demonstrated success in classroom teaching, including experience with external exam preparation
Experience with the IB curriculum

Experience in an international or multicultural school environment
