ROLE SUMMARY:

Founded in 1989, Blue Valley is a private, bilingual, Pre-K through 12th-grade school with over 800 students that offers a challenging combination of Costa Rican and International curricula promoting technology, the arts, and physical wellbeing.

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic College Counselor to join our team in Jan 2025. As a College Counselor, you will provide guidance and support to students as they plan their educational paths toward college and career opportunities. The counselor works closely with students, parents, teachers, and college admissions representatives to ensure students are prepared for post-secondary education, helping them navigate the college admissions process, scholarship opportunities, and career planning. This role is essential in helping students make informed decisions that align with their personal and academic goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

College Guidance: Advise students on college selection, application processes, and financial aid.

Academic Advising: Help students plan courses and prepare for college admissions tests.

Parent Engagement: Host information sessions and provide updates on college admissions and financial aid.

Career Planning: Guide students in exploring career options and preparing for the job market.

Administrative Duties: Track student progress, maintain records, and report college admissions outcomes.

Emotional Support: Offer guidance on handling academic stress and personal challenges.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required;
  • Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or Administration is preferred.
  • 5+ years of teaching experience and at least 2 years in a leadership or administrative role in a school setting.
  • Proven track record of improving student outcomes and managing curriculum development
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and use it to drive decision-making and academic strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working with teachers, students, parents, and administrative staff.
  • Thorough understanding of curriculum development, teaching best practices, and educational assessment.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate teachers and students to achieve high academic standards.
