ROLE SUMMARY:
The Head of Operations is responsible for the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of all operational functions of the school, ensuring that the campus, systems and services support a high-quality educational environment.
The role ensures that facilities are safe, compliant, well-maintained and aligned with the expectations of a leading British international school. The Head of Operations plays a key role in supporting school improvement, safeguarding, risk management and the overall student and staff experience.
The post holder is accountable for ensuring that operational standards meet BSO expectations, safeguarding requirements and local regulatory obligations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead and manage all operational functions of the school in alignment with strategic priorities.

Develop and implement operational systems, policies and procedures to ensure efficiency, consistency and high standards.

Advise the Head of School and senior leadership team on operational risks, priorities and resource planning.

Contribute to long-term campus development, capital projects and infrastructure planning.

Oversee the maintenance, repair and overall condition of all school facilities, ensuring they are safe, clean and fit for purpose.

Implement and monitor preventative maintenance programmes.

Manage external contractors and service providers, ensuring quality, compliance and value for money.

Ensure that all contractors and external providers operate in line with the school’s health and safety and safeguarding expectations.

Take operational responsibility for health and safety across the school, ensuring all systems and practices are robust and consistently applied.

Manage operational budgets effectively, ensuring value for money and alignment with school priorities.

Oversee procurement processes, supplier relationships and contract management.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, BSO expectations and local regulations.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Proven experience in operations, facilities or site management, ideally within a school or comparable environment.

Experience leading and managing teams across multiple operational functions.

Experience of managing budgets, procurement and external contractors.

Strong experience in implementing and maintaining health and safety systems and compliance processes.

Experience of working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.

Experience in an international school setting is desirable.

Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to operational issues.

High standards and attention to detail.
