ROLE SUMMARY:

As an EAL Teacher at King's College School Panama, you will be responsible for supporting students whose first language is not English, helping them develop their English language skills to successfully integrate into the academic curriculum and school community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and implement engaging EAL instructional programmes that meet the needs of students at various levels of English proficiency.
  • Assess students’ language skills and provide personalised feedback to promote language development.
  • Collaborate with other teachers to adapt general education lessons for EAL students to ensure content is accessible.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of EAL students, setting specific targets and adapting teaching methods accordingly.
  • Provide a nurturing environment that respects students’ cultural backgrounds and fosters language development.
  • Participate in professional development activities and stay updated on the latest EAL teaching strategies and resources.
  • Engage with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their child’s progress and how they can support learning at home.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Bachelor´s degree in Education, Linguistics, or related field.
  • Certification in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL), Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in a similar role, preferably in an international school setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in using digital tools and platforms for educational purposes.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students learning English as an additional language.
