ROLE SUMMARY:

St George's International School is seeking to appoint a Guitar Teacher to join the school in September 2025. The successful candidate will implement and deliver high-quality music instruction according to the age, aptitude, and abilities of the students, while maintaining the positive ethos and core values of the school, both inside and outside the classroom. Teachers are also expected to contribute to constructive team building among teaching and non-teaching staff, parents, and members of the board of directors.

This position is offered on an hourly-paid, fixed-term contract (approx. 3–6 months) to cover a staff sick leave.

We are looking for an experienced and inspiring Guitar Teacher with proven success in working with students aged 10–18, who demonstrates strong commitment, creativity, and enthusiasm for music education.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach students in individual lessons;
  • Teach students of all ranges and abilities;
  • Practitioner with exceptional drive and energy;
  • High expectations of him or herself and his/her students and is committed to ensuring every student has a positive learning experience;
  • Adhere to departmental assessment policies and practices;
  • Act as a role model for the students and as an ambassador for the school both in the way he/she behaves and observes the school’s dress code;
  • Be a team player, relating well to colleagues and parents;
  • Is internationally minded and supportive of our multilingual setting. 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Certified teacher with a recognised qualification in singing and appropriate right to work in Switzerland.

  • Proven experience teaching secondary and post-16 students, ideally within a high-performing international school.

  • Strong classroom practitioner: able to set clear expectations, plan effectively, assess learning, and provide constructive feedback.

  • Dynamic, enthusiastic, and motivating, with a positive, can-do approach and commitment to continuous improvement.

  • Resilient, flexible, well-organised, and a genuine team player.

  • Excellent communication skills with genuine care for student welfare and development.

  • French (B2) and English (C2).
