We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly effective Teacher of Media Studies (A Level) and English to join us in the next academic year. We are looking for a Teacher of Media Studies to launch our A Level Media Studies programme next year to a small group of students interested in taking this forward. The candidate will join our English department and would also teach a number of English classes across the Senior School. We can also consider applications from experienced teachers of Media Studies (A Level) who can offer an additional subject outside of English, and this should be made clear on candidates’ CVs and Cover Letters.

You will deliver engaging and inspiring lessons in Media Studies and English, developing critical thinking, analytical skills, creativity, and a strong understanding of media, culture, and literature. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deliver well-planned and inspiring Media Studies (A Level) lessons alongside English classes across Key Stage 3, iGCSE, and A Level, aligned with curriculum and whole-school academic expectations.
• Launch and develop the new A Level Media Studies programme, supporting students in research, analysis, and creative projects.
• Foster critical thinking, creativity, and media literacy skills through high-quality teaching and learning.
• Prepare students effectively for internal and external assessments, including iGCSE and A Level requirements.
• Assess, monitor, and report on student progress with accuracy and consistency, maintaining high academic standards.
• Contribute to curriculum development and the ongoing improvement of schemes of work, resources, and assessment practices.
• Support and collaborate with colleagues within the English and Media Studies Departments, promoting strong pedagogy and continual professional growth.
• Ensure inclusive teaching strategies that support students of all abilities, including those with diverse learning needs.
• Enhance the co-curricular programme through media clubs, film or production projects, competitions, and enrichment opportunities.
• Contribute to the pastoral care of students and promote wellbeing, resilience, and a passion for media, communication, and literature.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• A recognized teaching qualification and a degree in Media Studies, English, or a closely related discipline.
• Experience teaching Media Studies at A Level, alongside Key Stage 3 and/or iGCSE English.
• Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for inspiring students in media, communication, and literature.
• Ability to teach an additional subject outside of English (highly desirable) — this should be highlighted on CVs and Cover Letters.
• Outstanding organizational, communication, and classroom-management skills.
• A reflective, innovative mindset with a commitment to continuous professional development.
• Experience in an international school environment or with international curricula (highly desirable).
