ROLE SUMMARY:

The English Teacher at King’s College School Cascais delivers high-quality education within the IB Diploma Programme (Years 12 and 13) and secondary stages. This role focuses on inspiring academic excellence, fostering a global mindset, and driving student engagement through inquiry-based learning. Operating within an international environment, the successful candidate prepares students for academic success while supporting their holistic, pastoral development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Deliver dynamic English lessons (Language A/B) across secondary and IB DP levels following inquiry-based methodologies.
Supervise student assessments including IB Extended Essays (EE) and Internal Assessments (IA) according to strict IBO criteria.
Differentiate classroom instruction to effectively support both native English speakers and English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners.
Monitor academic progress using data-driven insights to provide constructive feedback and clear progress reports to families.
Provide strong pastoral care to support the emotional well-being and personal development of students within a global context.
Collaborate with departments and the IB Coordinator to align curricula, share best practices, and optimize student learning.
Engage in school life by attending pedagogical meetings, parent-teacher evenings, and leading diverse co-curricular activities.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Professional Teaching Qualification: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English/Education combined with PGCE, QTS, BEd, or equivalent legal status.
Proven IB Experience: Demonstrated track record teaching the IB Diploma Programme alongside official IBO training certification.
Native-Level English: Exceptional native or near-native English communication skills, both written and verbal.
International Mindset: Strong classroom management, collaboration skills, and adaptability to a multicultural school community.
