ROLE SUMMARY:

King's College School, Cascais is one of the recent additions to the Inspired Group. The College is currently open to Year 9 and will be opening Year 10 next year. Pupils primarily study the Cambridge International curriculum but will be offering IGCSEs from other examination boards as well. When Year 12 opens in September 2026, the school will be running the International Baccalaureate.

The College has fast established a reputation for excellence in Portugal and is set to become one of the most highly prized education schools not only in Portugal but beyond. Its location in one of the most prized districts in Portugal together with its unrivalled facilities and outstanding staff has led to it’s remarkable growth in its student roll to 704 students this year (a growth of 55% from the previous year).

The College will launch its new boarding provision in 2024. Facilities include provision for up to 50 pupils, all situated within the College walls on a campus above the main secondary building with stunning views of the Sintra mountains and the Atlantic coast. Boarders and boarding staff will have access to the school facilities including a 25m swimming pool, tennis and padel courts, gyms, basketball courts, dance and music facilities and 5G astroturf for multiple sports including football and rugby.

 

Residential Monitors will report directly to the Residential Director and, when necessary, to the Deputy and or Course Director. By its very nature, this is a demanding role. It is the duty of the Residential Monitors, in loco parentis, to be available often when not on duty. Maintaining your equanimity in times of crisis and working effectively with the Camp staff, the campers, parents and with the school administration. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure excellent pastoral care of Boarding and Day students on camp, including physical, mental and emotional wellbeing and discipline. 
  • Make sure students follow all boarding and school procedures correctly, such as, but not limited to: signing in and out, mealtime, bedtime, medications and night-time procedures, etc…
  • Make sure students are never left unattended within the camp and during off site excursions.
  • Collaborate with the Camp Director and the Deputies during the camp and communicate any issues immediately.
  • Chaperone the students on off site excursions, following safety instructions from the course Director/ Deputies. 
  • Attend all staff meetings. 
  • Be ready to participate in evening activities. 
  • Be responsible for the materials provided for the school for any activity organised.
  • Keep all areas clean and tidy. 
  • Working hours to include evening activity duties with some boarding ‘late’ duties and some ‘overnight’ duties required.
  • Be on call if there is an incident, fire, intruder, or any other emergency. 
  • Responsible for first aid and health issues for all campers, alongside the Deputies, Camp Director and nurse. 
  • On Sundays and Saturdays of arrival/departure of campers, the entire camp staff is on duty, for welcoming families and airport transfers.
  • Work rotation system and flexible timetable.
  • Be ready to assist as needed, understanding that residential monitors may occasionally be called upon to cover duties or handle unexpected situations around the clock.

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Staff must respect the guidelines set down by King’s College School, Cascais. (KCC Staff Handbook). 
  • Staff is required to attend the Training Days/planning sessions before the start of the Camp.
  • All staff should arrive on the agreed starting date (to be confirmed). 
  • Good team player and ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Attend online training courses on child safety through the Educare platform mandatory before arrival to inset days. 
  • Staff members are expected to uphold high standards of personal hygiene and appearance at all times. 
  • Maintain an awareness and observation of fire, health and safety regulations.

Language:

  • English level required: Advanced or Proficiency (C1-C2)

 

Documentation required:

  • Valid Permission to work within the EU
  • Criminal Record (with less than 3 months of expedition)
  • Curriculum Vitae with picture attached in the upper right-hand corner
  • Scanned Copies of Degrees and Certificates
  • 2 References (Letters)

 

Contract:

  • Period: from Wednesday 2nd July to Saturday 2nd August 2025.
  • Training days: 3rd,4th, 5th of July
  • Summer Camp: Session 1:  6thJuly - 19th July 2025
  • Summer Camp: Session 2: 20th July – 2nd August 2025
  • Salary: Euros 1800 gross for the whole period.
  • Included: accommodation, meals, accident insurance
  • Day Off: one day a week
