ROLE SUMMARY:

King’s College School, Cascais (KCS Cascais) is the leading premium international school in Portugal, offering an excellent academic experience for students aged 1 to 18. Opened in 2022, it is part of the prestigious King’s College group, with over 50 years of reputation for academic excellence, innovation, and educational leadership.

 

The school is located on a purpose-built campus with an investment of over 70 million euros, scheduled for completion in June 2025. Its state-of-the-art facilities set a new standard for modern education in Portugal and include:

  • A large 40,000 m² site, with capacity for 1,200 students

  • Modern academic buildings with science laboratories, computer rooms, and open learning spaces

  • Top-level sports facilities, including rugby and football fields, indoor pavilions, tennis courts, and a swimming pool

  • Studios dedicated to performing and creative arts, including music, dance, drama, and visual arts

  • A new student residence, offering a premium boarding experience for older students

 

The school offers two academic pathways:

  • A bilingual programme (Portuguese-English) in Early Years and Primary, providing a solid local and international foundation

  • A fully international pathway based on the Cambridge curriculum, with IGCSE exams in Year 11 and progression to the IB programme

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • School Psychological Support: Provide individual and group psychological support to students with emotional, social, or behavioural difficulties that affect their academic performance.
  • Promotion of Inclusion: Collaborate with the inclusion team to promote inclusive and personalised educational practices.
  • Socioemotional Education: Conduct sessions to develop socioemotional skills with classes.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, coordinators, and other specialist teams to implement support and prevention strategies.
  • Parental Guidance: Hold meetings with parents/guardians when necessary to coordinate educational and emotional interventions.
  • Internal Training: Support awareness and training sessions for teaching and non-teaching staff on topics related to child and adolescent development.
  • Assessment and Admissions: Assist in the admissions process by supporting psychopedagogical assessments.
  • External Referrals: Liaise with external services when necessary to ensure the best support for students.
  • Intervention Projects: Develop and implement projects that promote resilience, well-being, and mental health in the school setting.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

  • Degree/Master’s in Psychology, with a specialisation in Educational Psychology or equivalent
  • Relevant experience in a school setting
  • Passion for working with children and young people of various ages
  • Fluency in Portuguese
  • Good command of English
  • Creativity to develop materials and pedagogical activities
  • Excellent organisational and teamwork skills
  • A positive, dynamic attitude and a mindset focused on continuous improvement
  • Confidence using technology in educational contexts
  • A strong commitment to student well-being and success
