ROLE SUMMARY:

King’s College School, Cascais is one of the recent additions to the Inspired Group. The College is currently open to Year10  and will be opening Year 11 next year. Pupils primarily study the Cambridge International curriculum but will be offering IGCSEs from other examination boards as well. When Year 12 opens in September 2026, the school will be running the International Baccalaureate.
The King's College has quickly established a reputation for excellence in Portugal and is set to become one of the most highly prized education schools not only in Portugal but beyond. Its location in one of the most prized districts in Portugal together with its unrivalled facilities and outstanding staff has led to its remarkable growth in its student roll to 922 students next year.

To join our team for the next academic year, we are looking for a well-qualified and talented Psychologist to support the educational and emotional well-being of our students.
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Pastoral Care: Support all the programs of the Student Pastoral Care Team. 
Inclusion: Support all the programs of the Inclusion Team and advocate inclusive education. 
Counselling: Individual and group counselling (eclectic/integrative in nature) of students regarding issues that might impact on their school adjustment. 
Psychoeducation: Work with staff to teach pro-social skills and promote resilience and personal development of the students. 
Professional Development: Presents timely topics and trends about the issues concerning school and children which will benefit either the students, school staff and parents. 
Guidance Lessons: Conducts Guidance Lessons to help children learn about social and emotional skills which are fundamental in their development and growth. 
Admission Assistance: Assistance with the entry process during Admission Assessments. 
Parent Consult: Meeting with the parent/s in order to cater children’s counselling needs. 
Outside Referral: Liaise with external agencies, service providers and other schools to ensure provision of maximum support to meet children’s well-being.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Degree in Clinical Psychology;
Relevant professional experience in education;
Motivation to work with a wide range of age groups;
Excellent organisational skills;
Fluency in Portuguese;
Fluency in english;
Creativity to build new pedagogical materials; 
A positive attitude and approach to change and development; 
Genuine care and attention for the highest standards of student welfare; 
Confidence with use of ICT;
A continuous improvement mindset;
