ROLE SUMMARY:
King’s College School, Cascais, a prestigious member of the Inspired Education Group, is a state-of-the-art campus delivering the British National Curriculum to a diverse international community. In this role, you will be an essential partner to our Primary teachers, providing targeted academic support to students aged 5–11. Your mission is to foster a love of learning while helping each child reach their full potential through personalized attention and an inquiry-based approach.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- In-Class Support: Assist class teachers in delivering high-quality lessons, ensuring all students are engaged and understand the lesson objectives.
- Targeted Interventions: Lead small group or one-on-one sessions for literacy, phonics, and numeracy to support students with different learning needs.
- Bilingual Integration: Support the delivery of the school’s bilingual stream, helping students bridge the gap between English and Portuguese instruction.
- Resource Preparation: Assist in preparing creative teaching materials and maintaining a stimulating classroom environment that celebrates student work.
- Student Wellbeing: Monitor students' social and emotional growth, acting as a supportive mentor during breaks, lunchtimes, and school excursions.
- Progress Tracking: Work with teachers to observe and record student progress, providing feedback to help differentiate future lessons.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Language Skills: Near-native or full professional fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in Portuguese is highly valued for bilingual support.
- Education: A degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience working with primary-aged children, ideally in an international or British curriculum setting.
- Qualities: A proactive "can-do" attitude, patience, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced multicultural environment.
- Safeguarding: A deep commitment to child protection and safeguarding standards.
