ROLE SUMMARY:

King’s College School, Cascais, part of the Inspired Education Group, is a leading international school located on the beautiful Portuguese Riviera. The school combines academic excellence with innovation, creativity, and wellbeing, guiding students to become confident, compassionate, and globally minded young adults.

Serving a diverse community of students from over 60 nationalities, King’s promotes a culture of collaboration, respect, and continuous learning. The school offers a bilingual stream (English and Portuguese) up to Year 5 and follows the Cambridge International Curriculum through to IGCSE and beyond, ensuring a rigorous and globally recognised academic pathway.

We are seeking a well-qualified and passionate Senior School Mathematics Teacher to join our team from August 2026. The successful candidate will inspire and challenge students through engaging, inquiry-based lessons that foster deep understanding, critical thinking, and a love for Mathematics across a range of key stages. We welcome particulalry applications from Mathematics teachers with experience in, or clear potential to develop, teaching IB Mathematics AA Higher Level and/or Further Mathematics at A Level. Experience of preparing students for competitive Mathematics undergraduate degrees is also an advantage, for example for STEP papers for Cambridge University applications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver stimulating Mathematics lessons aligned with the Cambridge International Curriculum.
  • Inspire students to develop confidence and competence in problem-solving and logical reasoning.
  • Create a supportive classroom environment where all learners can thrive and achieve their potential.
  • Assess, track, and report on student progress, providing effective feedback to support learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop resources and share best practices across the department.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and reflective practice.
  • Contribute to co-curricular enrichment and the wider life of the school.
  • Participate in school events, meetings, and community activities as required.
  • Undertake any other reasonable responsibilities as directed by the Head of School or line manager.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • A degree in Mathematics or a related subject, plus certified teaching status.
  • Experience teaching IGCSE and IBDP or A-Level Mathematics within a UK or international curriculum.
  • A proven ability to differentiate learning to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • A passion for inspiring curiosity, resilience, and independent learning through Mathematics.
  • A growth mindset, strong organisational skills, and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a positive and proactive attitude.
  • A warm and supportive classroom presence that motivates students to succeed.
  • A desire to engage fully in the vibrant, bilingual, and multicultural community of King’s College School, Cascais. 
  • We particularly welcome applications from those with experience of teaching Mathematics at IB AA Higher Level and/or Further Mathematics A Level, or for applicants with clear potential to teach these levels as well as stretch beyond them for the most competitive of Mathematics entries at degree level.
