ROLE SUMMARY:
King’s College School, Cascais is a modern and dynamic international school offering a British-style education in one of the most sought-after regions of Portugal. Our curriculum is anchored in the Cambridge International Programme, with IGCSEs introduced in Years 10–11 and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme launching in 2026.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Head of Music / Music Teacher to lead and deliver a vibrant music programme, predominantly across Primary, with some teaching in Key Stage 3. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to shape the music provision in a fast-growing and ambitious school.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead the strategic development of the Music curriculum across Primary and Lower Secondary (KS3).

Plan and deliver engaging, creative, and high-quality Music lessons that inspire students of all abilities.

Promote a love of music through practical, performance-based, and theory elements of the curriculum.

Organise and lead school performances, concerts, assemblies, and enrichment events.

Establish and run co-curricular music activities (e.g., choir, instrumental groups, music clubs).

Develop strong cross-curricular links and collaborate with colleagues to embed creativity across subjects.

Manage music resources, including instruments and equipment, ensuring they are well-maintained and effectively used.

Monitor student progress through assessments and provide constructive feedback to support development.

Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and confidence in music.

Contribute actively to the life of the school and its continued growth and development.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE or equivalent) and a relevant degree in Music or a related field.

Experience teaching Music to primary-aged students, ideally with some KS3 teaching experience.

A passion for music education and a strong track record of inspiring young learners.

Confidence leading musical ensembles, choirs, or instrumental groups.

Excellent subject knowledge with the ability to differentiate effectively to support all learners.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to plan engaging extracurricular activities.

A collaborative and enthusiastic approach to working with colleagues and contributing to whole-school events.

A commitment to continuous professional development and the school’s values and vision.

Fluency in English (spoken and written).
