Facilities Coordinator

ROLE SUMMARY:

 
The Facilities Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the daily operations and maintenance of the King's College School Cascais campus. The primary goal is to ensure a premium, safe, clean, and fully operational learning and working environment for students, teachers, and staff.
This role requires a proactive approach to monitoring preventative maintenance plans, supervising support teams, and coordinating external service providers, ensuring the campus (classrooms, science labs, premium sports facilities, and boarding house) consistently meets the highest international standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Daily Maintenance: Coordinate daily repair requests and supervise the on-site maintenance team to handle plumbing, electrical, and HVAC issues quickly.
  • Preventative Planning: Conduct regular campus walkthroughs to identify building issues early and follow the preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Vendor Supervision: Monitor external contractors for cleaning, gardening, waste management, security, and specialized technical services.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure full compliance with Portuguese health, safety, and building fire safety regulations (SCIE), including organizing regular school evacuation drills.
  • Event Logistics: Coordinate the setup of spaces, furniture, and technical equipment for school events, sports days, and theater productions.
  • Stock & Inventory: Manage inventories of tools, repair materials, and cleaning consumables, and track maintenance for specialized areas like the swimming pool and science labs.
  • Communication: Serve as a bilingual point of contact, communicating fluently in English with internal staff and in Portuguese with local suppliers and contractors.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

  • 3+ years of experience in facilities, property management, or maintenance.
  • Professional fluency in both English and Portuguese (mandatory).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and technical knowledge of building systems.
