The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Music & Drama Teacher to join our Performing Arts department. This role is ideal for a versatile educator who is passionate about both music and the performing arts, and who can inspire students to express themselves confidently. You will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons that combine practical performance, theory, and creative exploration, contributing significantly to the vibrant cultural life of our school.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lesson Planning & Delivery: Plan and deliver high-quality Music and Drama sessions that align with Early Years frameworks (e.g., EYFS or IB PYP), focusing on sensory exploration and storytelling.
  • Creative Development: Use puppets, props, and instruments to develop children's communication, language, and physical coordination.
  • Performance Coordination: Organize and direct seasonal school performances, assemblies, and "open class" events for parents.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain an engaging and orderly learning space, ensuring all instruments and drama resources are safe and age-appropriate.
  • Observation & Assessment: Track student progress through observations and contribute to holistic development reports for parents and school leadership.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Early Years Lead Teachers to integrate music and drama themes into the general classroom curriculum (cross-curricular learning).

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Arts Specialist: A background in Music, Drama, or Early Years Education, with a talent for blending all three.
  • Talented Performer: Confident singing and playing a portable instrument (e.g., Guitar or Ukulele) to lead classes live.
  • Early Years Expert: Deeply understands how 2- to 5-year-olds learn through play, rhythm, and movement.
  • Creative Storyteller: Able to turn a simple story into an immersive musical and theatrical experience.
  • Dynamic Presence: Naturally high energy, patient, and able to capture a room full of toddlers.
  • Collaborator: Ready to work with classroom teachers to link the arts with weekly learning themes.
