ROLE SUMMARY:
King's College School, Cascais is one of the recent additions to the Inspired Group. The College is currently open to Year 9 and will be opening Year 10 next year. Pupils primarily study the Cambridge International curriculum but will be offering IGCSEs from other examination boards as well. When Year 12 opens in September 2026, the school will be running the International Baccalaureate.
The College has fast established a reputation for excellence in Portugal and is set to become one of the most highly prized education schools not only in Portugal but beyond. Its location in one of the most prized districts in Portugal together with its unrivalled facilities and outstanding staff has led to it’s remarkable growth in its student roll to 704 students this year (a growth of 55% from the previous year).

To join our team, in August 2026, we are looking for a talented and well-qualified Deputy Head of Senior School.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the Head of Senior School in the day-to-day leadership and management of the Senior School, deputising in their absence.
- Lead on specific operational areas, such as the school calendar, daily routines, and the coordination of internal and external examinations.
- Monitor and track student progress, using data to implement effective interventions and ensure high academic outcomes across the Senior School.
- Oversee pastoral care and student wellbeing, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all pupils.
- Drive teaching and learning excellence by conducting regular lesson observations, providing feedback, and supporting professional development initiatives.
- Manage the options process for IGCSE and IB, providing guidance to students and parents on curriculum pathways.
- Foster strong links with parents, handling day-to-day communication and resolving concerns effectively and professionally.
- Collaborate with Heads of Department to ensure curriculum continuity and the successful delivery of Cambridge and IB programs.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Proven experience in a middle or senior leadership role, preferably within an international school setting.
- Strong operational skills, with the ability to manage complex schedules and logistics effectively.
- Expertise in data analysis to drive academic standards and student achievement.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, empower, and lead staff and students.
- Deep understanding of the IGCSE and International Baccalaureate frameworks.
- High ethical standards, personal integrity, and a commitment to safeguarding.
- Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a fast-growing and dynamic school environment.
