Boarding House Parent

ROLE SUMMARY:

King’s College School, Cascais, a distinguished member of the Inspired Education Group, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Boarding House Parent to join our world-class boarding team and Boarding House, opening in September 2025. Our school offers the Cambridge International curriculum, including IGCSEs, and is set to introduce the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme in 2026. We are committed to fostering academic excellence and holistic development in a vibrant, multicultural environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Student Wellbeing: Provide holistic support to students, fostering their personal, moral, physical, and intellectual growth.
• Safeguarding: Ensure the safety and welfare of all boarding students, maintaining the highest standards of care and safeguarding.
• Community Leadership: Support the Head of Boarding and other House Parents in building a positive house culture and serving as a role model.
• Activity Coordination: Plan and lead enriching local trips, after-school activities, and weekend events for boarding students.
• Communication: Liaise with the Head of Boarding and parents to ensure clear and effective communication regarding student academic and pastoral progress.
• Administration: Assist with the efficient management of the boarding house, ensuring smooth day-to-day operation.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• A natural ability to inspire, encourage, and challenge young people.
• A fun, outgoing, and friendly personality with a “can-do” attitude.
• Sound judgment in addressing pastoral matters and student needs.
• Excellent command of the English language.
• Resilience and adaptability, with an understanding of the unique demands of a boarding environment.
• A strong knowledge of safeguarding practices and procedures.
• Cultural awareness and the ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds.

Desirable:

• The ability to coach a sport or teach a musical instrument.
• First-aid training or certification.
• Experience in a boarding, school, or social education environment.
• A teaching qualification or background in student care.
• Additional skills that contribute to the school’s extracurricular programme.
