ROLE SUMMARY:

 

Reddam House Durbanville, part of the Inspired Education Group, is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Sports Coordinator to lead the strategic development and coordination of selected sports across the school. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving excellence in both summer and winter sporting codes, mentoring coaches, managing fixtures and events, and ensuring an outstanding sporting experience for every student.

 

Working closely with the Director of Sport, this role plays a key part in strengthening the school’s culture of athletic achievement, teamwork, and personal growth. The Sports Coordinator will combine leadership, planning, and coaching expertise to foster a dynamic and inclusive sporting environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Lead the strategic development, coaching programmes, and performance standards for assigned sport codes (e.g. Football and Cricket).
  • Develop and implement tailored conditioning programmes aligned with seasonal competition cycles.
  • Mentor and support coaching staff, ensuring consistency and excellence in training and match preparation.
  • Manage fixture planning, training schedules, and logistics in collaboration with Heads of Sport and the Director of Sport.
  • Coordinate school sporting events, inter-house competitions, and tours, ensuring smooth execution and student engagement.
  • Monitor player development, participation, and performance metrics, setting measurable goals for growth and success.
  • Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and school pride across all sporting activities.
  • Oversee safety, risk management, and compliance standards within sporting programmes.
  • Maintain clear communication with parents, staff, and students regarding schedules, expectations, and achievements.
  • Contribute to the professional development of coaching staff through workshops and training initiatives.
  • Support the marketing and communication of sport achievements and events to the wider community.
  • Model the school’s values of discipline, integrity, and respect in all sporting environments.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

 

  • Relevant coaching qualifications and proven success in coaching or leading school sports programmes.
  • A minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in coaching, with a track record of achieving excellence at school, provincial, or national level.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to build motivated, high-performing teams.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative ability, including fixture scheduling and event coordination.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and confidence in using digital systems for planning and reporting.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage confidently with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A deep understanding of youth sport development, conditioning, and player welfare.
  • Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement.
  • SACE accreditation (advantageous) and the legal right to work in South Africa.
