ROLE SUMMARY:

 

Reddam House Constantia is seeking to appoint an experienced Intermediate Phase Teacher (0.8 FTE)  to join our school on a permanent basis from 1 January 2026.

 

The successful candidate will teach a combination of Afrikaans, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Information Technology across Grades 4–7, adopting a holistic approach to academic progress and overall student wellbeing.

 

This role requires an educator who can create a positive, engaging learning environment and motivate students to realise their full potential in a dynamic and nurturing school setting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Carry out full responsibility and duties required of an Intermediate Phase teacher across Grades 4–7.
  • Establish a nurturing, supportive teaching environment that promotes engaged learning.
  • Maintain professionalism in punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and homework expectations.
  • Add value within the classroom and wider school life through participation in school duties.
  • Use technology effectively and creatively to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Create rich, relevant, high-quality 21st-century learning materials and resources.
  • Evaluate, reflect on and refine teaching practice.
  • Engage in continuous professional development at a personal and school-wide level.
  • Teach extra lessons on two afternoons per week when required.
  • Respond to parents’ emails and calls within 24 hours.
  • Demonstrate loyalty to all facets of Reddam House.
  • Attend school functions and special occasions at the discretion of the relevant Head.
  • Set and mark assessments, examinations and other student evaluations.
  • Write report comments reflecting student progress.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as determined by the School Head or line manager.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

  • Minimum of 5 years’ teaching experience in the Intermediate Phase (Grades 4–7).
  • Bachelor’s degree relevant to the Intermediate Phase.
  • Certified Teaching Status and SACE registration.
  • Experience and confidence using ICT in teaching.
  • Strong organisational skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • A passion for teaching and the ability to create engaging, effective lessons.
  • Genuine care for student wellbeing and development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
