We provide premium education from 1 – 2 years old to A Levels as a post-matric option, to families living in the leafy suburbs of Durbanville, Vredekloof, Welgedacht, Plattekloof, Blouberg, Tableview, West Beach, Melkbos, Kanonberg & Welgemoed.

 

We offer weekly and termly boarding from Grade 6 – 12, providing a home-away-from-home to students outside South Africa & neighbouring countries, including Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Mauritius.

       

ROLE SUMMARY:

 

  • To adopt a holistic approach to the children in their care, supporting their academic, social, emotional and physical development, while promoting the overall well-being and progress of each child and the class as a whole.
  • To create a nurturing, structured and engaging learning environment that fosters curiosity, confidence, independence and a love of learning, motivating each child to achieve their full potential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Planning, preparing and presenting engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with the Early Learning curriculum.
  • Creating a nurturing, structured and stimulating classroom environment that promotes active, play-based and inquiry-driven learning.
  • Supporting the academic, social, emotional and physical development of each child.
  • Establishing clear routines and expectations that foster independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
  • Assessing, observing and documenting children’s progress, including informal and formal assessments where appropriate.
  • Setting age-appropriate tasks and experiences that consolidate learning and prepare children for Grade 1 readiness.
  • Writing meaningful and constructive report comments.
  • Reflecting on, evaluating and continually refining teaching practice.
  • Demonstrating a commitment to ongoing personal and school-wide professional development.
  • Producing high-quality learning resources and maintaining an organised, engaging classroom environment.
  • Communicating professionally and timeously with parents, responding to emails and telephone messages within 24 hours.
  • Behaving in a professional manner with regard to punctuality, conduct and standards of work.
  • Collaborating effectively with Teaching Assistants and colleagues.
  • Attending school events, meetings and special occasions at the discretion of the School Head.
  • Demonstrating loyalty and commitment to the ethos and values of Reddam House.
  • Undertaking any other reasonable tasks as determined by the School Head or line manager.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

Skills and Previous Experience:

 

  • A minimum of 4 years’ teaching experience with students in the Early Learning School (ELS) phase or equivalent Early Learning/Reception setting.
  • Confident and proficient in the use of ICT to enhance teaching, learning, and classroom engagement. 
  • Previous experience with the Cambridge Curriculum and inquiry-based teaching and learning approaches.
  • Previous experience in a high-performing, international, or academically rigorous school environment. 

 

Qualifications and Accreditations:

 

  • A university or college degree in an appropriate subject (e.g., Education, Early Childhood Development, or a related field).
  • Certified teaching status (SACE registration or equivalent).
  • Legal right to work in South Africa.
