ROLE SUMMARY:

The driver is responsible for providing a safe and reliable bus service and for transporting students to and from school. He or she will also perform school related errands as requested, and transport students to field trip locations as assigned. He or she will establish an effective rapport with students and will be responsible to ensure all passengers on the bus follow Reddam House mandated procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform daily bus checks and fill in the bus log before any trip is undertaken
  • Transport students from home to school and from school to home
  • Drop students only at authorized stops
  • Perform school related errands
  • Drive the bus for school fieldtrips, sports events.
  • Work overtime if required.
  •  submit it to the Estate Manager/Principal
  • Notify the Estate Manager/Principal in case of mechanical failure or lateness
  •  Ensure all seatbelts are in working condition before leaving the campus
  •  Ensure that all passengers have their seatbelts fastened before moving the bus, and maintain rules of conduct, and respond to emergencies.
  • Keep assigned bus in a clean condition and ensure it gets washed twice a week
  • Notify the Estate Manager/Principal if there are any route deviations
  • Transport only authorized students
  •  Report minor and major accidents/ damage to bus and complete required reports.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Matric
  • Code 10 Driver’s License
  • Valid Public Driving Permit (PDP)
  • Able to proficiently read, write and speak English
  • Prior experience driving a bus, preferably a school bus three years and more.
  • An ability to communicate well with students, staff and parents.
  • A positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • A committed team player with the ability to take initiative
