Reddam House Atlantic Seaboard is a premium private school in Green Point, Cape Town. ROLE SUMMARY:

 

We are looking for a passionate, dynamic, and creative Drama Teacher to join our high-performing team. The successful candidate will inspire students from Grades 8 to 12 to explore and express themselves through performance, develop confidence, and engage in the performing arts with enthusiasm and discipline.

 

This role requires a teacher who can create an engaging, supportive, and stimulating classroom environment, balancing high academic expectations with encouragement of artistic growth and self-expression.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Plan, prepare and present interesting and exciting Drama lessons.
  • Establish a teaching environment that is nurturing and promotes engaged learning.
  • Maintain professional standards with regard to punctuality, conduct, and student work.
  • Evaluate, reflect on, and refine teaching practice.
  • Participate actively in personal and school-wide professional development.
  • Teach extra lessons, when required, on two afternoons per week.
  • Produce high-quality resources for students.
  • Respond to parent queries within 24 hours.
  • Demonstrate loyalty to all facets of Reddam House.
  • Attend special school occasions as required by the Head.
  • Set and mark examinations and other forms of student assessment.
  • Write report comments and contribute to the academic reporting process.
  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks as determined by the School Head or Line Manager.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

  • A recognised teaching qualification and a university degree in a relevant subject area.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience teaching Drama to secondary and post-16 students.
  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to plan and deliver engaging, creative lessons.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and a nurturing, student-centred approach.
  • Confidence in using ICT and digital tools to support teaching and learning.
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute to the wider school community.
  • A positive, professional attitude and strong organisational skills.
  • Genuine care for student well-being and a commitment to fostering personal growth through the performing arts.
