ROLE SUMMARY:

 

Reddam House Atlantic Seaboard is hiring a Design Teacher to inspire, challenge, and nurture students from Grades 8 to 12, fostering creativity, problem-solving, and design thinking within a structured yet engaging learning environment. The role requires a teacher who can balance academic rigour with innovation, ensuring students reach their highest potential while developing their individual artistic voice. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and thought-provoking Design lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum and academic standards.
  • Foster an environment that promotes curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.
  • Set clear expectations for student learning and behaviour, providing regular assessment and constructive feedback.
  • Prepare students for internal and external assessments and exhibitions.
  • Maintain high professional standards in all aspects of teaching, communication, and classroom management.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the school’s creative arts programme.
  • Attend school functions and special events as required.
  • Ensure that the learning environment reflects the school’s ethos and values.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

  • A university degree in a relevant subject area (Design, Fine Arts, or related discipline).
  • Recognised teaching qualification and appropriate right to work in South Africa.
  • Demonstrated ability to create engaging, innovative, and inclusive lessons.
  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills.
  • A passion for inspiring creativity and fostering a love for design in students.
  • Commitment to continuous professional growth and collaboration within a high-performing team.
  • Previous experience teaching Grades 8–12 within a high-achieving school.
  • Familiarity with the IEB curriculum or similar.
  • Confidence in using technology and digital tools to enhance learning.
