Reddam House Atlantic Seaboard is a premium private school in Green Point, Cape Town. ROLE SUMMARY:

 

We are seeking an outstanding Deputy Head of Preparatory (Grades 1–6) to join our dynamic leadership team from January 2026.

The Deputy Head will play a key leadership role in supporting the School Head to ensure academic excellence, pastoral care, and operational efficiency across the Preparatory Phase. This includes responsibility for overseeing curriculum delivery, assessments, staff development, discipline, and academic administration.

The ideal candidate will combine strong educational leadership with a passion for teaching and learning, and a commitment to maintaining Reddam House’s exceptional standards of student achievement and wellbeing.

The ability to teach Afrikaans FAL (Grades 5–6) will be an advantage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Support the School Head in leading and managing all aspects of the Preparatory School’s academic operations.
  • Set academic targets, monitor outcomes, and promote consistently high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Oversee the creation and management of the academic timetable and termly mark schedules via iSAMS.
  • Lead on internal assessments, including the scheduling, monitoring, and reporting of cycle tests and examinations.
  • Address academic and pastoral concerns, ensuring effective communication with parents and staff.
  • Coordinate academic support programmes and interventions for underperforming students.
  • Oversee discipline and student conduct to maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Organise academic events including subject choice evenings, award ceremonies, and parent–teacher meetings.
  • Support new staff and students with academic induction and integration.
  • Maintain awareness of national and international trends in education to support ongoing school improvement.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties assigned by the School Head in line with the school’s operational needs.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

  • Minimum 5 years of management experience in curriculum delivery or academic leadership.
  • Proven ability to balance leadership and classroom teaching responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching practice and academic administration.
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Experience working within an IEB school environment will be advantageous.
  • Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or equivalent degree with PGCE.
  • SACE registration and the legal right to work in South Africa.
  • Confidence using ICT tools, including Google Suite and school management systems (iSAMS).
  • A collaborative, forward-thinking mindset and commitment to continuous professional growth.
