ROLE SUMMARY:

 

  • To adopt an aspirant view to students in their care, promoting the general progress and well-being of individuals and of any class or group assigned to them.
  • To create a positive learning environment and motivate students to achieve their full potential.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

● Be an active contributor amongst a dynamic team.

● Consistently plan, prepare and present interesting and IEB aligned Business Studies lessons.

● Teach some EMS (Grade 8 or 9)

● Establish a teaching environment that is nurturing and promotes deep learning.

● To serve the community.

● Behave in a professional manner.

● Consistently evaluate, reflect on and refine teaching practice.

● Continuously seek professional development.

● Teach extra lessons, when required, on two afternoons per week.

● Be actively engaged in the afternoon programme for a minimum of two afternoons per week.

● Respond to e-mails and telephone messages within 24 hours.

● Exemplify qualities of ‘good’, care, effort and kindness.

● To attend all occasions appropriate to the position.

● To meet all appropriate timelines for action.

● To be a Tutor teacher, ensuring effective pastoral care for a group of students.

● Effectively set and mark assessments and all other forms of student evaluation.

● Write informative report comments.

● To undertake any other reasonable tasks that the School Head / Deputy Head of Academics fairly determine

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

Skills and Previous Experience:

 

  • The ability to engage and interest teenagers ·
  • A minimum of three years’ experience teaching Business Studies at FET level (Gr10 – 12)
  • Previous experience with the IEB programme 
  • Excellent classroom management to lead a productive learning environment 
  • Confidence with use of ICT in teaching 
  • The ability to coach an afternoon activity would be advantageous 

 

Qualifications and Accreditations:

 

  • Appropriate legal right to work in a South African school
  • University degree in an appropriate subject 
  • SACE accreditation
