ROLE SUMMARY:

 

King’s School The Crown is built in extensive grounds offering world-class educational and sporting facilities, enabling students to pursue a diverse range of interests. Our purpose-Built Campus of over 40,000m2 located in the heart of Cairo's most prestigious gated community, The Crown, 6th October city. This school is the first in the region to cater to students from 3 months up to 18 years with state-of-the-art facilities, including: a full football field, 400m athletic track , 25m 8 lane covered swimming pool with learner pool, indoor multi-purpose sports hall, outdoor multipurpose courts and a 522 seat Performing Arts theatre.

 

King’s School The Crown is delighted to be a part of the British Council schools partnership, working with Cambridge to deliver the UK national curriculum through to IGCSE. The process involved multiple inspections to ensure our new school met the highest standards, from the Egyptian Ministry of Education, Cambridge and the British Council. King’s School passed with flying colours!

 

The Head of Finance is a key leadership role responsible for managing the school’s financial operations, including budgeting, reporting, forecasting, and compliance. This position ensures the effective use of resources to support the school’s mission and long-term sustainability. As a strategic advisor to the leadership team and Board, the Head of Finance provides financial insight and oversight to guide decision-making and drive operational efficiency in a dynamic international school environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Oversee Financial Operations:Manage the school’s day-to-day finance and accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely processing of all financial transactions.
  • Financial Planning and Budgeting: Prepare, monitor, and analyze annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections to support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and interpret monthly management accounts, annual financial statements, and key performance reports for the Senior Leadership Team and Board.
  • Audit and Regulatory Oversight: Liaise with internal and external auditors, ensure audit readiness, and maintain proper documentation and compliance with accounting and reporting standards.
  • Cash Flow and Treasury Management: Monitor cash flow, manage liquidity, and oversee payables and receivables to ensure the financial stability of the school.
  • Expenditure Control and Variance Analysis: Review actual versus budgeted performance, identify variances, document reasons, and recommend corrective measures for cost efficiency.
  • Asset Management: Oversee the management of fixed and current assets, maintain accurate fixed asset registers, and ensure optimal investment in resources.
  • Strategic Financial Advisory: Provide financial insights and recommendations to the Regional CFO, CEO, Executive Head, and Senior Leadership Team on key initiatives, including capital projects and long-term planning.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Lead and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

  • Bachelor/master’s degree with 7-9 years of experience in finance and accounts function.  
  • Additional professional qualifications such as CA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent is an added advantage. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management 
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong finance and accounting background. 
  • Technical competency with relevant statutory regulations e.g. IFRS, Labor Laws etc. 
  • Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting and management reporting with proven track records. 
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills with a capacity to manage challenging business stakeholders and a highly motivated team. 
  • Possess critical thinking and analytical skill set. 
  • Strong business acumen, creative mind, ability to take initiative and act independently. 
  • Effective problem solving, decision making and time management skills. 
  • Constant drive for achievement of improved standards of performance and quality.
