ROLE SUMMARY:
Sotogrande International School (SIS) is a leading IB World School with a vibrant, international community of over 1,300 students from more than 45 countries. Our modern boarding house provides a warm, supportive “home away from home” for 166 students from M1 to D2. We are now seeking a compassionate and dedicated Resident Boarding Matron to join our boarding team.
About the Role
This live-in position plays a key role in creating a nurturing, family-style environment where students feel safe, supported, and cared for. The Resident Matron works alongside the Senior Boarding and Nursing Teams to ensure exceptional pastoral care, wellbeing, and day-to-day support for all boarders. Comfortable modern accommodation and term-time meals are provided.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support the daily wellbeing, health, and personal development of boarding students.

Be on-call overnight for medical or welfare needs and assist with evening medication.

Escort students to off-site appointments and monitor those who are unwell.

Build positive, trusting relationships with students, parents, guardians, and agents.

Help new boarders settle into boarding life and provide ongoing emotional support.

Work closely with pastoral, nursing, and housekeeping teams to maintain high standards of care.

Attend boarding and safeguarding meetings and follow school policies, including child protection and health & safety.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Experience in pastoral, welfare or boarding roles (BSA/Health & Social Care qualifications desirable).

A warm, caring, and professional approach with young people.

Strong communication skills and the ability to build supportive relationships.

Flexibility, initiative, and a positive, team-focused attitude.

Good ICT skills and the right to work in Spain.

A driving licence; Spanish language skills or willingness to learn are advantageous.

A commitment to safeguarding (enhanced DBS or equivalent required).
