ROLE SUMMARY:

 

Sotogrande International School is seeking to appoint a passionate and dedicated Primary Learning Support Teacher (SEND) to join our Student Support Services team. This is a full-time, permanent role starting in August 2025.

The successful candidate will support primary students with diverse learning needs, helping them to thrive within an inclusive environment aligned with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). They will be a collaborative and dynamic educator with a strong understanding of inclusive practices and an ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and families.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Develop and implement Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special educational needs (SEND).

  • Deliver targeted support within inclusive classroom settings, using a range of strategies and tools to differentiate instruction.

  • Create a nurturing and empowering learning environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional development of students.

  • Conduct regular assessments and observations to monitor progress and adapt strategies accordingly.

  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, pastoral teams, parents, and external specialists.

  • Maintain open and supportive communication with families to ensure consistent and coordinated support.

  • Stay current with best practices in special education and inclusive learning.

  • Contribute to the wider school community and promote a culture of inclusion and respect.

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

  • A recognised teaching qualification and a degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Proven experience supporting primary-aged students with SEND, ideally in an international school setting.

  • A strong understanding of inclusive education principles and evidence-based interventions.

  • Knowledge and/or experience with the IB PYP and Early Years frameworks is desirable.

  • Experience supporting EAL (English as an Additional Language) learners is a plus.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.

  • A commitment to fostering a respectful, diverse, and inclusive school environment.

  • Fluency in English (additional languages are an asset).
