ROLE SUMMARY:

 

Sotogrande International School, a leading IB World School located in southern Spain, is seeking to appoint a full-time History and Integrated Humanities (Individuals & Societies) Teacher for the MYP and DP programmes. This is a permanent position starting in August 2025.

We are looking for a passionate, experienced, and creative educator with a deep understanding of concept-based inquiry learning and a collaborative approach to curriculum development. Experience teaching Theory of Knowledge (TOK) would be a strong asset, though not essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Deliver high-quality History and I&S lessons within the IB MYP and Diploma frameworks.

  • Contribute to weekly team meetings and collaborative planning sessions, including interdisciplinary learning units.

  • Design and implement engaging units of inquiry and varied assessment strategies that support student learning and conceptual understanding.

  • Provide timely and constructive feedback on formative and summative assessments, including Internal Assessments.

  • Supervise and support Extended Essay students.

  • Maintain accurate records and write comprehensive academic reports.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

  • A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, PGDE or equivalent).

  • Experience teaching History and/or I&S within the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP).

  • A thorough understanding of the IB philosophy and inquiry-based learning.

  • Commitment to student-centred, concept-driven pedagogy.

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

  • High levels of organisation, initiative, and reflective practice.

  • Experience with Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and/or interdisciplinary learning is highly desirable.
