ROLE SUMMARY:

Sotogrande International School is seeking to recruit a creative, engaging and experienced Individuals & Societies Teacher. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering Integrated Humanities across MYP 1 to MYP 5 and should be open-minded, collaborative, and committed to fostering an inquiry-based learning environment.

The department philosophy very much promotes collaborative planning and teamwork drawing upon different skills and specialities within the team. Experience with the IB programme is preferred, as the role involves working closely with colleagues to plan and revise unit planners, interdisciplinary units and develop innovative and varied assessments that support student learning

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver engaging Integrated Humanities lessons across MYP 1 to MYP 5 following an inquiry-based approach.

  • Foster critical thinking and inquiry by encouraging students to explore global and historical perspectives.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and refine unit planners, interdisciplinary units, and assessments.

  • Develop innovative and varied assessments to support and enhance student learning.

  • Contribute to a collaborative and team-oriented department culture, leveraging different skills and expertise.

  • Support students in developing research, analytical, and communication skills through dynamic teaching methods.

  • Incorporate IB principles and best practices into lesson planning and delivery.

  • Encourage an open-minded and globally aware classroom environment, promoting discussion and debate.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • A Bachelor of Education degree, or an initial degree plus a relevant teaching qualification such as PGCE,PGDE or equivalent specialism in I&S.
  • The ability to teach Diploma Programme Business Management would be an advantage but is not essential.
