ROLE SUMMARY:
The Secondary school Head of Performing Arts (known as a Leader of Learning at SIS) will lead, manage, and develop the Arts department in line with the Inspired school’s vision and the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) curriculum requirements. This role involves ensuring high-quality teaching and learning, fostering student engagement, and promoting the Arts subjects of Theatre, Film, Visual Arts and Music across the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP).
The successful candidate will have a clear vision for a dynamic and inclusive curriculum for the Arts. This will include the development of the Arts through the new multi million euro performing Arts Centre which is due to open in September 2026.
The Head of Performing Arts will be expected to work closely with the music curriculum and foster a culture of collaboration and teamwork across the arts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership & Management:
Lead the Arts department with strategic vision, aligning with IBO standards. Support staff through mentoring, training, and performance management. Foster cross-departmental collaboration.
Growth & Development:
Drive academic excellence and innovation. Recruit and develop a high-performing team. Shape the vision for the Performing Arts Centre and lead long-term program growth.
Teaching & Learning:
Ensure high-quality, inclusive teaching. Lead curriculum design and implementation for MYP and DP Arts. Promote creative, hands-on learning and effective assessment practices.
Student Engagement:
Direct theatre productions and LAMDA programs. Lead extracurricular activities and performances. Boost student involvement and connect with the Primary school for whole-school Arts development.
Administration & Communication:
Manage budgets, resources, and departmental records. Lead inspection prep and reporting. Maintain clear communication with parents, staff, and the school community.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Teaching qualification.
- Demonstrated passion for Arts education and student development.
- Bachelor’s degree in the Arts or a related field.
- Experience within the IBO MYP/DP framework.
- Proven leadership experience within an Arts department.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with managebac an advantage.
