ROLE SUMMARY:

 

St. John’s International School is seeking a passionate, dynamic, and experienced MHS Spanish Teacher to join our international faculty. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality language instruction to motivated students across Grades 9 to 12, covering both beginner levels and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. We look for an educator committed to an inquiry-based, student-centered approach that inspires global citizenship and linguistic confidence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Curriculum Delivery: Teach Spanish across Middle and High School, including the IB Diploma Programme.
  • Inquiry-Based Learning: Plan student-centered, differentiated lessons to meet diverse cultural and linguistic needs.
  • Exam Preparation: Prepare High School students effectively for internal assessments and external IB examinations.
  • Cultural Appreciation: Foster a deep understanding of Hispanic cultures, literature, and global perspectives.
  • Assessment & Feedback: Track student progress and provide regular, constructive feedback to support learning.
  • Parent Communication: Write academic reports and actively participate in parent-teacher conferences.
  • Pastoral Support: Serve as an MHS Homeroom Teacher to support student well-being and safeguarding.
  • School Community: Contribute to extracurricular activities, departmental meetings, and professional development.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

 

  • Education: A university degree in Spanish Philology, Hispanic Studies, Education, or a related field.
  • Teaching Qualification: A recognized teaching certificate (e.g., PGCE, QTS, Estado, or equivalent).
  • Experience: Proven experience teaching Spanish in secondary education, with a strong advantage for prior IB Diploma Programme experience.
  • Language Proficiency: Native or near-native fluency in Spanish, with excellent professional communication skills in English (the primary language of instruction).
  • Legal Status: Valid work authorization to live and work in Belgium is required.
