We are seeking to appoint a part-time Middle High School Learning Support Coordinator (0.8)  to start immediately. This is an exciting opportunity for an inspirational and passionate educator to join our vibrant school.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching and Learning:

  • In collaboration with the principals, MYP and DP coordinators, devising and delivering appropriate intervention for students with a recognized need for specialist support in literacy, numeracy and general learning skills. This could involve:
    • “pull-out”, targeted teaching to individuals and small groups with emphasis on reading, writing, numeracy and general study skills;
    • “push-in” support in mainstream classes, in accordance with specialist areas of strength.
  • Responding as required to acute need for academic support in the long or shorter term by scheduling targeted coaching to enhance the individual student’s performance on the mainstream curriculum through development of conceptual understanding and learning skills (organisation, academic self-sufficiency, reading & writing skills, numeracy, etc.).

Collaborative planning:

  • Collaborate with Learning Support colleagues in planning, assessment and reflection.
  • Collaborate with Learning Support Team members and faculty on identification of student learning needs and subsequent response.
  • Collaborate with the Primary School Learning Support coordinator school-wide to ensure coherence of approach; participate in regular Department meetings.

Assessment:

  • Use of a range of assessment practices to recognize the individual needs of each student.
  • Maintain student assessment data to provide evidence of learning over time.
  • Use assessment data to recommend entry to and exit from the EAL programme : Head of EAL
  • Write Individual Learning Plans (ILP) for students based on their psycho-educational assessments or demonstrated learning needs.

Administrative duties:

  • Define inclusive access arrangement requests for IB, MYP and AP exams
  • Establish and maintain positive communication with parents, organising meetings as necessary, for the implementation of plan and evaluation of student progress in the light of the ILP.
  • On an ongoing basis, update and communicate needs and agreed strategies of Learning Support students to all relevant faculty
  • Participate in grade-level team meetings and student support meetings to enhance understanding of and approach to student needs, in order to optimise progress
  • Serve as a support and resource to classroom teachers for differentiated learning strategies, engaging in co-planning and co-teaching where appropriate and as scheduling permits

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Strong leadership and coordination skills to design, implement, and oversee learning support programs aligned with international frameworks like IB.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and school leadership to ensure inclusive and comprehensive support for students with diverse learning needs.

  • Expertise in creating and monitoring individualized learning plans (ILPs) and implementing targeted academic and social-emotional interventions.

  • Excellent communication skills to advise and guide teachers on differentiated instruction and inclusive practices.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and ability to lead training sessions on learning support and inclusive education.

  • Proactive approach to managing student data, progress reporting, and compliance with educational standards and policies.

  • Empathy and dedication to fostering an inclusive school culture that values diversity and supports the well-being of all students.

  • Relevant educational background (e.g., Special Education, Educational Psychology) and experience in learning support, preferably in international or IB schools.
