ROLE SUMMARY:

St John’s International School, located in Waterloo, Belgium, is a proud member of the Inspired Education Group and offers a world-class education. Established in 1964, St John’s is an IB World School, delivering the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme and an Early Years curriculum that combines academic excellence with personal development.

 

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Early Years Teacher to join our team in August 2026. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach and support children in the Early Years, following IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) principles.
  • Design and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
  • Foster curiosity and creativity through play-based and inquiry-based learning approaches.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of individual learners and encourage holistic growth.
  • Observe and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records and sharing feedback with parents.
  • Integrate technology and hands-on activities to enhance learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment aligned with IB philosophy.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, building strong partnerships in support of each child’s development.
  • Promote school values and create a positive, inclusive classroom culture.

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • A university degree in Education or Early Childhood Education, with a recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Early Years students, preferably in an international or IB school.
  • Familiarity with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and inquiry-based learning approaches.
  • Proven ability to create a warm, engaging, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Strong communication skills and fluency in English (basic French is an advantage).
  • A collaborative mindset and flexibility in a multicultural environment.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
  • Passion for inspiring young learners and supporting their growth through creative and meaningful experiences.
