ROLE SUMMARY:

 

Reddam House Berkshire is a flagship UK school of the successful Reddam House International group. Set in 125 acres of wood and parkland, housed in a magnificent mansion building.

We have 800+ students between the ages of 3 months and 18 years are registered here (day students and boarders from age 11+). Children are recognised as individuals with unique skills to celebrate and given tailored support and guidance at each stage of their school career. Our structure of Early Learning School, Junior School, Middle School and Senior School means that every year group works with professionals who specialize and enjoy working with the students in their care.

 

The unique Reddam House philosophy and our formula for success are based to a large degree on the quality and depth of our curricula, cultural and sporting activities and especially our teaching staff, fully recognising that what goes on in the classroom between teacher and student strongly influences the success of the school.

 

We are looking to recruit for a Head of Operations who is responsible for managing and executing the day to day operational aspects of Reddam House Berkshire and will support the Principal, Heads of School and Finance accordingly.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership and management:
Line Manager for Facilities Team
Responsibility for campus operations including repairs and maintenance, security, H&S, catering, cleaning under the leadership of the Principal
Support the Principal & Heads to ensure the effective financial management of the school budgets
Liaise with relevant external bodies including Local Authority, Council and legal professionals as required

 

Finance:
Assist in executing the strategic financial plan which addresses the requirements of the school’s development plan with regards to operational aspects of the schools business
Administrate insurance contracts and cover under Group guidance to ensure assets and all stakeholders are adequately insured
Work with Principal to make effective use of facilities within the school to optimise income available from lettings and services

 

Premises:
Oversee that correct procedure is followed for the quotation and procurement of services and improvement works within the school financial standards
Ensure all statutory servicing is carried out and paperwork stored effectively
Be responsible for all Lettings to outside agencies 
Ensure the safe maintenance and operation of all school premises, including staff housing
Ensure the continuing availability of utilities, site services and equipment. 
Ensure ancillary services, e.g., catering, cleaning and transport are monitored and managed effectively.
Work with the UK Project Manager and UK Head of Estates on capital projects and R&M needs throughout the site.

 

Operations Management:
Oversee the management of school transport systems - ensuring all vehicles are maintained, insured and cleaned
Work with the Inspired Head of Procurement to oversee the management of catering in the school

 

Health and Safety:
Oversee the management of health and safety, risk management and business continuity- ensuring that appropriate legislations and policies are adhered to as led by the Principal
Act as the school’s Health & Safety Co-ordinator and the school's Fire Officer
Ensure the completion of buildings, and premises risk assessments
Risk assess activities, events and areas as and when required, communicating outcomes and incorporating feedback.
Ensure the maximum level of security consistent with the ethos of the school

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Experience of managing operation functions within a School or business environment

Experience of team leadership and staff supervision

Experience of managing departmental budgets

Will be self motivated, proactive and committed

Strong IT skills (training will be provided on bespoke systems)

Able to prioritise tasks

Good communication skills both oral and written

Able to respond swiftly, calmly and effectively to the unexpected
