ROLE SUMMARY:

The British International School, founded in 1981, is a private co-educational school providing an excellent, high quality bilingual curriculum in Pre-School, Primary and Secondary, as well as an optimal learning environment. As part of our teaching team, we are looking an outstanding and dynamic Lab Technician to be in post ready for 5th August 2025.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and set up practical equipment, materials, and chemicals for lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised laboratory environment in line with current health and safety regulations.
  • Manage the storage and disposal of chemicals, biological specimens, and hazardous materials appropriately.
  • Monitor stock levels, place timely orders for laboratory supplies, and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Assist in the development and testing of new experiments and teaching resources.
  • Contribute to risk assessments and support the Head of Science in quality assurance practices.
  • Collaborate with science teaching staff to ensure smooth lesson delivery and continuous improvement in practical provision.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to foster students' interest in science by focusing on chemistry especially, promoting research and exploration skills.
  • Organize and supervise extracurricular activities related to chemistry, such as practice labs to develop knowledge.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related careers
  • A-Level science subjects or vocational qualifications in laboratory practice (desirable).
  • A strong working knowledge of scientific principles and laboratory procedures.
  • Software management (Word, Excel, Power Point, Google)
  • Level B2 English Language
  • A strong working knowledge of scientific principles and laboratory procedures. 
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills, with the ability to create a positive learning environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to supporting young learners.
  • A clear understanding of the importance of safeguarding and child protection in schools.
  • Knowledge of the IB programmes is desirable.
