ROLE SUMMARY:
La Miranda, the Global Quality School, is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Teacher of Social Sciences to join our team from early November on a temporary basis, covering maternity leave.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching the Social Sciences curriculum in English across ESO and MYP. The role requires a teacher who is confident working with secondary students and able to deliver engaging, challenging and inquiry-based learning experiences.
Experience of the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) is highly desirable, particularly experience teaching within the Individuals and Societies subject area.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teach Social Sciences to secondary students across ESO and MYP.

Deliver the relevant curriculum in English, adapting teaching and learning to different student needs.

Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that encourage critical thinking, inquiry and independent learning.

Develop and use appropriate teaching resources, activities and assessment strategies.

Assess and monitor students’ academic progress and provide constructive feedback.

Support students in developing their analytical, research and communication skills.

Contribute to a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Collaborate with colleagues within the Social Sciences and wider teaching team.

Participate in departmental planning, meetings and wider school activities.

If appropriate, take on additional responsibilities as a Tutor, supporting students' academic and personal development.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

University degree in Social Sciences, Humanities, History, Geography or a related subject.

Appropriate teaching qualification for secondary education.

Previous experience teaching Social Sciences at secondary level.

Ability to teach the Social Sciences curriculum confidently in English.

Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Ability to plan and deliver engaging, student-centred lessons.

Experience with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) is highly desirable, particularly within Individuals and Societies.

A collaborative, flexible and student-centred approach to teaching.

Previous experience as a Tutor/Form Tutor would be an advantage.

Availability to start in early November.
