Teacher of Social Sciences ESO / MYP (Maternity Cover)

ROLE SUMMARY:

La Miranda, the Global Quality School, is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Teacher of Social Sciences to join our team from early November on a temporary basis, covering maternity leave.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching the Social Sciences curriculum in English across ESO and MYP. The role requires a teacher who is confident working with secondary students and able to deliver engaging, challenging and inquiry-based learning experiences.

Experience of the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) is highly desirable, particularly experience teaching within the Individuals and Societies subject area.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teach Social Sciences to secondary students across ESO and MYP.

• Deliver the relevant curriculum in English, adapting teaching and learning to different student needs.

• Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that encourage critical thinking, inquiry and independent learning.

• Develop and use appropriate teaching resources, activities and assessment strategies.

• Assess and monitor students’ academic progress and provide constructive feedback.

• Support students in developing their analytical, research and communication skills.

• Contribute to a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

• Collaborate with colleagues within the Social Sciences and wider teaching team.

• Participate in departmental planning, meetings and wider school activities.

• If appropriate, take on additional responsibilities as a Tutor, supporting students' academic and personal development.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• University degree in Social Sciences, Humanities, History, Geography or a related subject.

• Appropriate teaching qualification for secondary education.

• Previous experience teaching Social Sciences at secondary level.

• Ability to teach the Social Sciences curriculum confidently in English.

• Strong classroom management and communication skills.

• Ability to plan and deliver engaging, student-centred lessons.

• Experience with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) is highly desirable, particularly within Individuals and Societies.

• A collaborative, flexible and student-centred approach to teaching.

• Previous experience as a Tutor/Form Tutor would be an advantage.

• Availability to start in early November.
