ROLE SUMMARY:

 

The British College of Gavà is a premium international school located just outside Barcelona, offering a British-style education for students aged 3 to 18. As part of the Inspired Education Group, our school blends academic rigour with creativity, critical thinking, and global-mindedness.

 

We are seeking to appoint an experienced and passionate Teacher of French and Spanish to join our dynamic languages faculty from the 2025–26 academic year. The successful candidate will teach French from Year 3 to Year 9, and Spanish Ab Initio within the IB Diploma Programme.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Deliver engaging and high-quality French lessons from Year 3 to Year 9 (ages 7–14), aligned with the UK National Curriculum
  • Teach Spanish Ab Initio within the IB Diploma Programme, focusing on students with no prior knowledge of Spanish
  • Foster a stimulating, inclusive and language-rich learning environment
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students
  • Collaborate with colleagues in planning, assessment and curriculum development
  • Support the wider life of the school, including events, trips and co-curricular activities

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

  • Native-level proficiency in French (French native preferred)
  • Degree in Languages, Education or a related field
  • Recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE or equivalent)
  • Experience teaching within the UK curriculum is essential
  • Experience with the IB Diploma Programme, especially Ab Initio courses, is an advantage
  • Strong classroom management, communication and intercultural skills
  • Passionate about language acquisition and committed to student progress and wellbeing
  • Eligible to work in Spain
