ROLE SUMMARY:

The British College of Gava (BCG), an IB World School just 20 minutes from central Barcelona, is seeking a passionate and experienced English Literature Teacher to join our growing Secondary school team from August 2025.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a purpose-built, fast-developing school with outstanding facilities. We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-organised teacher with excellent subject knowledge, able to inspire students and contribute to the wider curriculum and school life.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teach English Literature to A-Level and/or IBDP English A level
Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that foster a love of literature
Support and challenge students to achieve outstanding academic outcomes
Use assessment data effectively to inform planning and support progress
Collaborate with colleagues in curriculum development and school initiatives
Contribute to the wider school community, including extracurricular activities

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Essential:

Qualified Teacher Status (UK or equivalent)
Minimum of 3 years' experience teaching English Literature at A-Level or IBDP English A (not EAL or second language)
Native-level English speaker
Strong academic background in English or Literature
A student-centred approach and alignment with the school’s values

Desirable:

Experience teaching within the IB programme (particularly English A: Language & Literature or Literature)
Master’s degree or postgraduate qualification in a related field
Right to work in the EU
