ROLE SUMMARY:

 

The British College of Gavà (BCG), an IB World School within the Inspired Education Group, is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Chinese (Mandarin) Teacher to deliver lessons to beginner and intermediate learners across Primary, Secondary, and A Levels.

This role currently requires 2 hours of teaching per week on Wednesdays, with the potential for additional hours as the Chinese language programme grows.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Plan and deliver engaging Mandarin lessons for beginner and intermediate groups.

  • Teach core skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

  • Introduce essential vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation using age-appropriate, interactive methods.

  • Integrate cultural elements to bring Chinese traditions and culture to life in the classroom.

  • Prepare or adapt suitable teaching materials for a school setting.

  • Assess student progress and provide clear, constructive feedback.

  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, well-organised classroom environment.

  • Communicate as needed with staff, coordinators, and parents regarding progress or concerns.

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

  • Native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese.

  • Strong English skills.

  • Knowledge of modern language-teaching methodologies and engaging classroom practices.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with school staff and follow curriculum guidelines.

  • Enthusiasm for working with children and adolescents.
