ROLE SUMMARY:

 

The British School of Bahrain is committed to providing a high-quality, international education for students in the Kingdom of Bahrain. We are a selective, coeducational, independent Nursery-through-Year 13 school. Our curriculum is based on the National Curriculum for England and Wales, with some adaptations to the local context and offers IGCSE and A-Level/BTEC examinations. We are welcoming applications for the Facilities and Maintenance Technician role to join us in January 2026. The main responsibility of the FM Technician is to keep the facilities and grounds of the school in top condition. Contribute to the efficient and effective operation and environment of the school by providing a high level of technical support. To ensure that the facilities & grounds of the school are maintained in a neat, tidy, safe and hygienic manner. Contributes to the maintenance, enhancement of appearance and safety of the school’s facilities and grounds.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Mainly responsible for Carpentry, Painting and Air Conditioning but will also be responsible to handle other responsibilities as outlined below.

 

 

Other Responsibilities

  • General care of all indoor and outdoor facilities
  • Assist in regular risk assessment/inspections
  • Preparation of activity/assembly halls, where applicable, including moving/arranging furniture and seating.
  • Removal and relocation of furniture and supplies from room to room
  • Order and/or collect general grounds care supplies and materials as authorised by the Operations Manager and/or school management
  • Ground improvement and enhancement activities
  • Other grounds care duties, consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the position as directed by the immediate supervisor or line manager.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of school furniture, equipment and surroundings

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

  • Ability to understand the work environment of a school, along with an awareness of the need for security in relation to building, access, personal property and equipment.
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships with team members while also having the capacity to work with limited supervision.
  • Ability, or the skill to rapidly acquire the ability, to use and maintain facilities and grounds care equipment and materials.
  • Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to learn new technical skills required for facilities and maintenance such as plumbing, electrical and painting
