ROLE SUMMARY:
ACG Schools, part of the global Inspired Education Group, is seeking an experienced Senior Group Accountant to join our New Zealand finance team. Acting as the 2IC to the Head of Finance (NZ), you’ll play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting across all ACG entities.
You’ll lead statutory reporting, external audits, and group submissions, ensuring compliance with NZ IFRS, tax legislation, and Inspired policies. As the team’s technical accounting lead, you’ll oversee daily operations, month-end close, and audit processes, while driving continuous improvement and delivering insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead preparation of statutory financial statements and coordinate end-to-end external audits.
- Deliver accurate, timely group financial reporting and monthly close across all ACG entities.
- Act as 2IC to the Head of Finance (NZ), providing leadership and continuity during absences.
- Manage tax compliance (GST, PAYE, FBT, NRWT, Provisional Tax) and ensure adherence to NZ legislation.
- Oversee lease accounting (IFRS 16), intercompany reconciliations, eliminations, and group reporting.
- Prepare budgets and forecasts, analyse variances, and provide insights on financial performance.
- Drive process and system improvements to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy.
- Monitor daily cashflow, manage treasury activities, and provide weekly cashflow forecasts.
- Supervise and guide team members, ensuring consistent, accurate, and timely finance operations.
- Support senior leadership with financial analysis, modelling, and decision-making.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Minimum 5 years experience in similar size role/company dealing with multiple entities
- Relevant degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Admin / Fully qualified (CA/CPA or equivalent)
- Resilient and adaptable, can manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a high pressure environment
- Proficiency in financial systems such as Cognos Controller, TM1 and JD Edwards or similar platforms are ideal
